Monument Profiles

Monument Profiles

The next step in the monument design process is choosing the profile, or shape, of the monument. Upright monuments and slant markers come in different profiles, the most common of which are explained below.

Serpentine Top

A serpentine top gives a slightly curved look to the monument. The top of the monument is slightly raised in the center.

Flat Top

A flat top is level across the entire top of the monument.

Oval Top

The top of the monument is rounded, giving way to flat sides.

Gable or Roof Top

A gable, or roof, top is higher in the center and drops 2 inches toward the ends.

Apex Top

With an apex top the center of the monument is high and all four sides come to a single point as a pyramid.
